Long-Term Care Scheduling Revolution: Valid Shifts, Part 2

Valid Shifts has become a huge success within Mission Health communities and allows a more streamlined process for scheduling and budgeting. With new innovations, there is always a divide. One group of people are excited and ready to onboard, while others are a little more hesitant to learn something new, especially when it comes to technology. Cody Bishop, founder and creator of Valid Shifts, is back with insights on for those a little more hesitant in adapting to new programs.

Technology is beginning to take over the world of skilled nursing to help with remote patient monitoring, therapeutic solutions, and now scheduling. The hardest part of implementing technology is getting everyone onboard. “It’s normal to be intimidated or fearful of change, however the juice is worth the squeeze. Not only do we do a ton of automation to help you fill your shifts, stay on budget, and keep schedules built,” says Bishop. Valid Shifts was created to make managing coverage, assignments, and documentation of schedules easier. Bishop continued, “with the auto notes and call ins/NCNS reporting, data that used to be ‘swept under the rug’ is now exposed and transparent for all to see. We give light to issues so they can actually get solved leading to healthier communities.”

Staff encouragement and excitement comes from leadership, but where do scheduling managers and administrators begin within the platform to introduce Valid Shifts? “The best way to get teams excited about using the app is through the Valid Shifts Commercial. This commercial informs the staff of all the positive outcomes when switching to the app,” says Bishop. COVID changed our experience and perspective on paper schedules. Staff were looking for a solution and Valid Shifts provides that clarity. The electronic scheduling platform gives staff a chance to log into the mobile app, view their schedule any time and anywhere, and give them live access to pick up or switch shifts when needed.

According to Bishop, the staff has really take a liking to the Valid Shifts app as it provides transparency on their schedules and allows to plan ahead when needing to attend doctor appointment, family events, or their child’s sports event. On the other hand, schedulers tend to be a little more timid. “That is why Valid Shifts is committed to providing all the support necessary to make sure the schedulers and management staff have all the training and access to get help that they could ever need. We are trying to be true partners.”

Mission Health and Valid Shifts has created an invaluable relationship. We help each other’s success in the scheduling and budgeting process. Continuous training and support on both ends are major factors to that success. Everyone within Mission Health is excited to see employee satisfaction continue to grow and our partnership with Cody and his team flourish.

The Mission Experience is not only catered to our residents, but also to our employees. Our teams are continuously putting our heads together to find ways to make the workplace more enjoyable and productive. We truly believe that Valid Shifts has created a positive impact in the Mission Experience by becoming more organized and creating a great work-life balance.
